Life's Cycle Mixed Media

Wholeness does not mean perfection: it means embracing brokenness as an integral part of life.”                            Parker J Palmer Author / Educator

Under the surface of the present exists a sea of possibilities.  Being whole means to be ourselves, accept ourselves, and to believe in ourselves. We should not feel we need to change or hide our passions or our deficits.  No one is perfect! The biggest factor in being whole is accepting who we are as we are. I read somewhere that to be whole we had to hold hands with the devil within us.  I think that is true.  We all have characteristics about ourselves, or things we have done or created that we do not like.  Until we can accept them as part of who we are or work on changing them, we will not feel that wholeness.  We just need to plug into our creativity and explore the options we have to accept those things that are holding us back.  We should never let our negative feelings or a negative outcome of something we tried, define us.

Creativity is broad and expansive.  It encompasses and touches everything in life in some way.  It can be as simple as finding a unique way to arrange our tool cabinet or writing the next best seller. It’s taking a previous knowledge and using it in a unique and different way to improve something, or create something new.

Creativity is a way to deal with life on an everyday basis.  It can turn negative things in our lives into positives.  In times of trouble our imagination and creative impulses can benefit us greatly. It can help us problem solve and can also be a release for what troubles us. It allows us to approach problems from a new perspective, which can lead to an effective solution. It’s thinking outside the box!

When we can approach life with a creative mindset, we are more likely to find purpose and meaning in what we do. Whether we are working on a creative project or simply dealing with everyday situations.

In today's fast-paced world, it is easy to get overwhelmed and stressed out. However, engaging in creative activities or finding unique and different ways to do things can be a great way to relax and de-stress. Whether we are engaging in creating a “fine art project” or just putter about, the act of creating something new or approaching something with a different mindset can help us clear our mind and find a sense of calm.

Change is a constant in life, and the ability to adapt and come up with creative solutions is essential for success. Whether we are faced with a personal challenge or a professional one, creativity can help us find a way forward.  We need new and interesting ways to engage with the world around us.  It is through this act of creativity that we find a sense of purpose and fulfillment.

We are all born with the ability to be creative. We all have creative impulses.  It is just that some of us have had those abilities nurtured and reinforced more than others. External pressure from society, parents, work or a myriad of other places may have made us believe that we were not or should not be creative, which is terribly unfortunate. This is why it is so important, especially during the periods of childhood when the brain is rapidly growing and learning from its surroundings, that we need to foster and support creative thinking.

If nurtured we can develop our creativity. The outcome is so rewarding. It is “Inner Wholeness”.

Art holds out the promise of inner wholeness.”  Alain de Botton  Philosopher / Author
